On the weekend of 10/11 August one of our bird hides was burned down. We intend to replace it with a more robust (and much less flammable) metal structure.
And since the remaining bird hide is also wooden (so at risk from fire) and in generally poor condition, we would like, if funds permit, to replace it at the same time.
All money raised will come to The Friends of Forest Farm. Any surplus will be used by the Friends for the benefit of Forest Farm, in line with our constitution.
There are various options for metal hides available, and they’re currently being researched. But whichever option is chosen, it won’t be particularly cheap — even the very roughest estimate at this point suggests several thousand pounds per hide. (The cost includes the new hide itself, plus construction of a suitable foundation, delivery and installation.)
