The minimum acceptable file size is 1MB and the maximum is 15MB.

Should it be necessary, winners may be asked to resubmit their photo(s) in a higher resolution, to ensure print quality. If a suitable resolution is not available, the Friend reserve the right to select another winner from the eligible entries.

The image should be a faithful representation of the original scene.

Images may be digitally enhanced to remove spots or scratches, or to make them brighter, clearer, etc, but must not be otherwise manipulated. For example, adding or removing objects, trees, animals, plants, people, etc, is not allowed.

The Friends’ committee and appointed judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity.

All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have won a prize in any other photographic competition.

Entrants must ensure that the photographs they are submitting are their own work, that they own the sole copyright for them, and that they do not infringe the copyright or other rights of any third party, or any other applicable laws.

Entrants must have obtained the permission of any people featured in their entries, or that of their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured.

The prize

Winning entrants will see their photo(s) published in the Friends Calendar 2021, with full attribution.

How it will be judged

The judges will be appointed by the committee of the Friends of Forest Farm.

All entries will be judged to see which are the most visually appealing and/or celebrate the wide variety of the Reserve, its ambience, wildlife and biodiversity — birds, insects, animals, plants, fungi and landscapes. As the publication is a calendar, selection of the winners will aim to depict the reserve throughout the different seasons.

Winners will be notified by email or phone by 30th June 2020.

If a winner cannot be contacted or is not available, then the judges reserve the right to select another winner from the eligible entries.

The decision of the committee of the Friends and the appointed judges is final and binding in all matters.

Intellectual Property Rights

Entrants will retain copyright in their submitted images.

But, by submitting them, all entrants grant the Friends a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use the images to promote or celebrate the competition, to promote future competitions, or for any purpose consistent with the constitution of The Friends of Forest Farm. This includes the right to publish the images in any form or medium (including but not limited to the Internet, social media, printed matter and exhibitions). The Friends of Forest Farm also reserve the right to crop images for use.
